One Day Tour in Rome – Private Tour with Driver

Rome: History, Art & Culture in One Day

Rome is one of the most extraordinary cities in the world — a place where history, art, and culture blend perfectly, offering visitors unforgettable emotions at every corner. During your private one-day tour, you will discover the most iconic landmarks of the Eternal City, including the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Spanish Steps.

The Colosseum – The Symbol of Ancient Rome

The Colosseum is the most famous amphitheater in Italy and one of the most visited monuments in the world. Located in the heart of Rome, it could once host up to 50,000 spectators. Its construction began during the reign of Vespasian and was inaugurated under Titus in 80 AD, with later modifications made by Domitian.

The Colosseum was mainly used for public shows and gladiator battles, which were among the most popular forms of entertainment of the Roman Empire.

Over the centuries, the structure underwent significant changes:

  • In the Middle Ages, it was used as a defensive fortress and even as a burial area.
  • Several collapses and financial issues required restoration.
  • In the 19th and 20th centuries, major excavations revealed the underground levels.

Today, it remains a powerful symbol of Rome’s ancient history and engineering.

Trevi Fountain – The Most Iconic Fountain in Italy

The Trevi Fountain is the largest Baroque fountain in Rome and one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. Designed by Niccolò Salvi and inspired by Bernini, it was built on the façade of Palazzo Poli and inaugurated in 1735.

The fountain represents the theme of the sea, with Neptune dominating the central scene.

Tradition says that throwing a coin into the fountain — with your back turned — will ensure your return to Rome. Every day, thousands of visitors admire this masterpiece, and the coins collected are donated to charity.

The Trevi Fountain has also been featured in iconic films, such as:

  • La Dolce Vita by Federico Fellini
  • Tototruffa 62 with Totò

Its cinematic charm has contributed to its worldwide fame.

St. Peter’s Basilica – The Heart of Christianity

A one-day tour in Rome cannot exclude a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the world with a total area of about 23,000 m².

Located in Vatican City, the world’s smallest independent state, the basilica took 120 years to complete and was finished in 1626 under Pope Urban VIII.

The site is believed to be the burial place of Saint Peter, one of Jesus’s apostles. The first basilica was built by Emperor Constantine in the 4th century, but only a few artistic elements of that structure remain today.

In front of the basilica stands the magnificent St. Peter’s Square, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini between 1656 and 1667 — one of the greatest masterpieces of Baroque architecture.
